Marensius is the progressive house alias of Norwegian producer and artist Herman Marensius Gjersøe. Based in Oslo, he has spent the past few years immersed in the city’s electronic scene, performing regularly at venues like The Villa, Jaeger, and Smelteverket—often in back-to-back DJ sets with longtime collaborator Hovland. Though active as a DJ, Marensius is first and foremost a producer, known for melodic, emotionally driven tracks that evolve slowly and land with deep club impact.
His solo project launched with Iris EP (2025), a collaborative release with Hovland that initiated COMMA.records. The EP’s layered arrangements and progressive energy were developed through months of live testing in clubs, setting the tone for Marensius' sonic identity: lush pads, hypnotic grooves, and carefully sculpted melodic arcs. He followed it with the solo single For This Moment, further establishing a sound that bridges introspection and dancefloor momentum.
Alongside his progressive output, Herman also produces high-energy trance under the alias DECO 5000, with releases featured on international labels and support from peers like TDJ. While the two projects remain distinct, traces of trance’s euphoric intensity inform the emotional weight of Marensius’ slower, groove-based work.
Marensius crafts music designed for deep listening and late-night clubs alike. As co-founder and a key part of COMMA.records, he continues to evolve his sound through both studio releases and tightly curated DJ sets.
